Napa Red [ photo gallery ]

Napa Red is a Sunsprite-bred Selle Français mare that we are especially proud on. Her pedigree is of international value, and her appearance is everything we had hoped for when we covered her dam with the internationally successful show jumper Baloubet du Rouet. Napa Red is an athlete from head to toe and we are very fortunate to have her. She will be bred for the first time in 2010.

The sire Baloubet du Rouet was a star in the competition ring. His sire Galoubet ridden by Gilles-Bertran de Ballanda, was a member of the French showjumping team for many years – while his son has been the mainstay of the Brazilian team, with Rodrigo Pessoa, in a most amazing performance career. Baloubet was a finalist in the French Showjumping Championships as a six year old, and at the age of seven, became French showjumping champion. Starting at the age of nine and under the saddle of Brazilian Rodrigo Pessoa, the stallion won three World Cup Finals in a row, 1998, 1999, 2000, and barley missed out of a fourth in 2001! As a stallion, Baloubet’s influence extends across Europe and the world. His sons are entered into many breed societies today and include such stallions asthe Schockemöhle bred Balou Grande Z and Balou du Rouet. Especially the latter has already made a name for himself as a young and coming sire of show jumpers in Germany. For more information on Amle Z and his line, please also see the pages of our mare Kamirette.

On the dam side of Baloubet's pedigree, the half brother to Cor de la Bryere, Starter, stands out. Baloubet's dam Mésange du Rouet was a competitior herself. Since the foundation mare of this dam line, Perle de Norval, was also sired by Rantzau xx, this blood appears twice and may be one of the reasons of Baloubet's exceptional quality. Among the many international competitors in show jumping that came out of this family, we'd like to mention Quidam V (by Rantzau xx), Norvale (by Ibrahim), Venise de Brion (by Bel Avenir), Futuro (by Furioso II; Futuro stood at the Kathmann stud in Germany), Quatoubet du Rouet (by Galoubet), Caloubet du Rouet (by Galoubet), and Unadore du Rouet (by J’T’Adore).

Please see the mare page of Rodan's Pricess xx for more info on her background!

More information on Baloubet de Rouet can be found in his own site: Baloubet de Rouet.
