The sire Carino *E* (pictured left) is quite a famous stallion in Canada and the US for a number of offspring that compete very successfuly in the higher levels of hunters and in dressage. Carino *E* descends from the rather small line of Irrlehrer - Oxyd, a line that orginiates in the Beberbeck Stud in East Prussia, not in Trakehnen, and that had significant impact on the early Westfalian breed in Germany right before, during and after WWII. In fact, a number of Olympic competitors, like Josef Neckermann's Mariano, carry Oxyd blood up close. The outstanding Westfalian stallion Radetzky, a full brother to Mariano, was out of Malta by Oxyd, and revolutionized dressage breeding in Europe. He is the foundation of the today well known line of Rosenkavalier - Rubinstein I. Carino *E* has four approved sons with the ATA, and all of them are full siblings: Platinum vom Rappenhof, Prince of Prussia, Prince Habicht and Patras vom Rappenhof. Piroschka is a full sister to these stallions.
The dam of these band of siblings is the German Trakehner mare Palma Nigra *E*, a black daughter of the international Three Day stallion Habicht (Palma Nigra is pictured right). She traces back to the famous DLG champion mare Palma by Morgenglanz, a mare that was bred and owned by the world famous Trakehner expert Dr. Fritz Schilke. Her dam line traces back to the main stud Trakehnen and the mare Pelargonie. Through that, Palma Nigra shares her origin with many other famous Trakehners, e.g. the stallions and international dressage winners Peron TSF and EH Partout. The same family also produced the approved Pascal and Payano (the latter is a two times National dressage champion in Finland) and the Olympic eventer Peppermint III. Palma Nigra is also a mare of rather outstanding fertility. Until her retirement in 2006, she produced 14 foals for Rappenhof Trakehner Stud in Quebec, Canada.
Offspring
So far, Piroschka has had foals every year and she arrived in foal for a very late 2007 September foal (by Guy Laroche). We will therefore give her a much needed break and not cover her again this year. Her offspring include Pirouette vom Rappenhof (by Impala RH), Poet (by Hilton GS), Pollux vom Rappenhof, Persephone vom Rappenhof and Pasadena vom Rappenhof, all by Guy Laroche.
