Sunsprite's Neelah [ photo gallery ]

Sunsprite's Neelah was our only foal of 2009 - and what a foal she is! Charming, very sure of herself and with a great personality, she really had everybody's attention. She is also a most elegant and athletic filly in a radiant chestnut color, and a wonderful gift frm Nadja, who has given us a filly to keep the line going.

born 2009; Trakehner

Trakehner mare family of T4C1a Perlmuschel (Klosterhof Medingen)

Herzberg is a German import to California and a stallion with a most impressive career. Approved for RPS in Germany, he won the Rhineland-Palatinate Young Show Jumper Championship and sired a number of excellent RPS-branded offspring, including inspection site champions and successful competition horses in dressage and show jumping. Herzberg was then imported to the US by German Dressage in Carlsbad, and quickly rose to stardom in dressage - he an accomplished international Grand Prix dressage horse with World Cup points under his belt! In 2010, now 17 years old, he is back on the show circuit with his long-time rider and owner, Jennifer Hoffmann.

His sire Leonardo was one of the breed's best dual-purpose sires - his son Kairos TSF is an international show jumper with Holger Hetzel in Germany, while Herzberg and others show at the upper levels in dressage. Leonardo came from the stallion line of Komet via the outstanding Gunnar and was line bred to Komet 3 times, and Burnus AAH 2 times - a rather interesting accumulation of outstanding sport horse genetics!

Herzberg's dam line - O217b Hannelore - is one of the smaller, but highly proven lines of the Trakehner breed and represnted by several upper level competition horses, especially in eventing and show jumping (the younger approved, spectacular jumper Hope of Heaven is a good example). In addition, this is the line of the exceptional international dressage sire EH Hyllos (sire of e.g. EH Solero TSF, international Grand Prix winner).

Unfortunately, Herzberg is not approved with the ATA (he was never presented). He obviously meets the highest criteria for performance, and that really is all that counts at the end of the day. While Neelah is a purebred Trakehner, she will be registered Oldenburg. We think we have bred to the best possible stallion for this particular mare, and while it's a loss for the ATA, it's certainly not a loss for the Trakehner breed and horses like Herzberg - in our humble opinion - should really be included in our gene pool. We don't have many like him!
